Journal/Blog Entry #12

BAC Mono - This has to be one of the best looking production cars. I feel fast just looking at it. Plus the grey surface of the car is evenly lit from the front to the back showing this picture was taken in a professional studio

Dyson Ball Vacuum - Although there is clearly a high powered light source making some areas brighter than others, the front of the vacuum is still well lit

McLaren P1 - Successor to the F1. Due to its very organic shape, this must be one of the hardest cars to photograph. Despite the abundance of many contours and curves, the entire surface remains well illuminated allowing for minimal variations in the tone of the car's predominant color

Journal/Blog Entry #11

Harry Callahan - The Play on perspective is unique. The left and right sides are not aligned the same way

Joel Meyerowitz - Other than the obvious representation of Christmas/Winter, I think the snow on the car could also be a metaphor for soot from the metaphorical explosion in the sky

John Pfahl - The string is the shape of a box obviously frames the rock offshore. Very direct!

Ruth Dusseault - Here's something you don't see everyday

Journal/Blog Entry #10

Andreas Gursky - Reminds me of a place in the Phillipines called Smokey Mountain. This was a term coined for a large landfill located in Manila, Philippines

Filip Dujardin  - Of all his CG work this is my favorite

Lynn Geesaman - The white space between the trees looks like someone standing at the other end was holding a very powerful flashlight

Andrew Moore - The stained glass makes the interior look bright or maybe even newly renovated but the exterior is quite the opposite. The spiral stair on the side could make the viewer wonder where it leads

Journal/Blog Entry #9

Sally Mann - The composition reminds me of another work I saw with a tub in the center of the picture with someone in it

Bernd & Hilla Becher - A multi-storey building inside a mine?! Interesting

Pipo Nguyen-duy - Superfluous representation of a greenhouse

Rondal Partridge - The parked cars add an unexpected element to the composition. The entire car park frames the landscape at the bottom

Journal/blog Entry #8

Ansel Adams - It looks like the mountain is erupting
Robert Adams - The way the smoke fades from black to gray allows it to almost blend into background
Edward Burtynsky - At first glance it almost looks like construction in downtown Chicago, NY or Detroit

Edward Weston - The curve the river makes through the canyon is cool. The canyon also looks like a copper mine

Journal/Blog Entry #7

Albert Chong - This composition reminds me of one of my scanner pictures

Annie Leibovitz - I've seen a lot of her work but I found this very surprising for some reason

Walker Evans - This is clearly a photograph with two different people but it reminds me of a style of mirrored photography that was popular in the 70's in Nigeria

Journal/Blog Entry #6

Gregory Crewdson - The glass door and windows panes invites the viewer

Sally Mann - Makes you wonder who's restricted

Slyvia Plachy - The tree on the right in the background fills in the negative space and makes it seem like the different groups of people are closer than they actually are
